La Gran Tamalada: A Tamale Making Workshop

Saturday, December 17, 2022

3-6 pm

An all-ages cooking class and cultural experience that fills your belly and your heart!

LA GRAN TAMALADA

A tamal is a tasty Mexican meal, but a tamalada is a delicious gathering of family and friends.

Tamales are a traditional Christmas food throughout Mexico and the Southwestern US. A tamalada is a tamal-making party. People share stories, remember loved ones, and maybe even gossip a bit.

The techniques for making these corn-meal pockets have been handed down from generation to generation. That’s how Jesús de la Torre learned to make tamales, and that is how he and daughter Maya will teach you at La Gran Tamalada!
