Mandalas are circular patterns used for purposes of centering, meditation and healing. Examples of them can be found in Hindu and Buddhist art, Navajo and Australian Aboriginal sand paintings, Gothic stained glass windows, as well as the arts and crafts of many cultures.
David Nez is an artist and art therapist who creates his own mandala patterns in various media. He will present the history of mandalas from around the world, discuss the use of mandalas in art therapy as well as his own artwork. Following the presentation he will offer an experiential workshop where participants will be encouraged to create their own mandala drawings on paper for the purpose of self-expression, creative exploration and centering. All materials will be provided.
