This five-week course is an overview of the many ways to work with clay. Through demonstrations and hands-on experience, students will be introduced to the foundational skills of pottery. Each session will be a creatively influenced space allowing students to explore self-expression and refine their skills.
Students will explore a variety of building methods from simple pinch pots to wheel thrown forms. They will learn the process of glazing and how the interaction between the clay body and glaze can affect the finished appearance of a ceramic work. The necessary timing of each step will be taught, as well as best practices in working within a shared studio space. Clay, glazes, and firing fees are included in the price of the class.
Please bring your own apron to protect your clothes.
