Have you ever found a piece of textured material or fabric that you loved and wanted to use to make art? Join teaching artist Casey Weibust for this 4 hour workshop and learn the art of collagraph printing and embossing. Participants will learn how to create a collaged plate and explore techniques using the etching press to emboss it with various textures and shapes. Through collaging and embossing materials directly onto the printing plate, unique imagery can be reproduced and printed as a series. All materials will be provided. Students are also invited to bring textured items that are meaningful to them, or that they would like to experiment with. Materials that work well include clementine wrappers, rice papers, wall paper samples, fabric samples, tin foil, dried plants, keys, coins, and plastic netting. All experience levels are welcome. Each student will leave with their own series of printed artwork, as well as the printing plate they created, for future use.

If the class is sold out and you would like to be put on the waitlist, please email melinda@jamestownartcenter.org.
