ELIZABETH COFFEY BEHAN has worked at the Jamestown Arts Center since 2020. Hers is the first face you see upon entering the building, greeting you from the front desk. She welcomes visitors into the JAC’s impressive gallery spaces, answers questions related to current and upcoming exhibitions, and offers tours of the arts center’s three active studio spaces. Additionally, she offers various types of assistance to artists who participate in the JAC’s many classes and residency programs, provides information on memberships, classes, and special events, and performs other types of administrative support, including program registrations and sales of artwork. She received a B.A. in Art History from Rhode Island College, and following that, spent the next five years working for a firm specializing in estate auctions and appraisals of antiques and fine art. From there, she spent many years in her most important role, at home raising her five children, before being introduced to the warm, creative community that is the JAC.

When she isn’t spending time at the arts center, Elizabeth and her husband, Kevin, can be found visiting the area’s many wonderful restaurants, enjoying the vibrant art scene throughout the state, and keeping up with their children’s many activities.
