CHRISTINE COCCA is the Executive Director of the Jamestown Arts Center, bringing over two decades of experience in arts management, strategic leadership, and international cultural exchange. Appointed in 2024, she is dedicated to fostering dynamic artistic communities and expanding access to the arts.

Cocca’s career spans both local and global arts landscapes, from Providence, Rhode Island, to Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She co-founded and directed Black Goat Studios, Inc., where she played a pivotal role in facilitating over 200 exhibitions worldwide, including a 2022 solo exhibition of her partner, internationally renowned artist Entang Wiharso, at the Jamestown Arts Center. Her leadership extended to Antena Projects and Yogyakarta Open Studios, where she directed artist residencies, educational programs, and strategic partnerships with universities, local governments, and schools. In 2001, she was appointed by the Indonesian government to revive the historically significant Yogyakarta Biennial, reinforcing her impact on the global arts scene.

Cocca holds a Master of Arts Management and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University and is also a Fulbright Scholar. Now based in North Scituate, Rhode Island, she is on the board of Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County and a member of Disrupting the Status Quo: Curatorial Agency in Rhode Island, a curators collective organized by the Providence Biennial for Contemporary Art. Cocca is an avid reader, a passionate supporter of her local library, and deeply interested in the field of art conservation. She and her husband are proud parents of two adult sons.
