From the artist: “When I was young we had a small etching press in our basement. My mother, an artist, taught me some basic printing techniques and when I went to art school I chose printmaking as my first major. I studied many aspects of printing during those years as well as drawing and painting. I eventually stopped printmaking and have loved painting and drawing for the last 3 decades.
Several years ago I found a beautiful, 40 year old Dutch printing press on sale in a shop in Paris and had an undeniably strong urge to begin printmaking again. I have been concentrating on monotypes and am pleased with the resulting images.
Now painting and printmaking make up the body of my most recent work. I enjoy alternating between the two disciplines and using my drawings as a starting place for both.
This show represents two years of work, paintings and monotypes. I am thrilled to have the chance to fill the walls at the Jamestown Arts Center.”
