The Sun
Visionary Artists
January 31— April 12, 2025
Curated by Annie deBethune
Featuring artists from Out of the Box Studio and Gallery, Downtown Designs Gallery, and Sunlight Studios
“Light is not only glorious and sacred, it is voracious, carnivorous, and unsparing. It devours the whole world impartially without distinction.”
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
The sun is a powerful, all-consuming motif. The morning star reveals new fortunes, new fates, and new desires. Curator Annie deBethune has assembled works from artists at three studios for The Sun exhibition: Out of the Box Studio and Gallery, Downtown Designs Gallery, and Sunlight Studios. These dynamic and inclusive communities are made up of artists with and without disabilities who are passionate about art.

Inspired by the structure of tarot readings, the exhibition uses this storytelling framework to navigate personal and collective narratives. The featured artists interpret the tarot as a mirror to their own lives, contemplating the past, present, and future. The result is a vibrant collection of works that radiate the energy of light and life, encompassing everything "under the sun."
This marks the fourth collaboration between the Jamestown Arts Center and the three studios since 2017.
