“Waves and Shadows” is a collaborative project that explores connections between clothing and the body. Taleen Batalian’s collection of sculptural garments searches for ways that clothing can represent the inner body, the skin-covered body and the psychological body. Testing the boundaries of form and presentation, Taleen and her collaborators integrated these ideas about the body with movement, sound and environment. The result was a film, created at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, RI, in the fall of 2020.

On November 13, Jamestown Arts Center will present a screening of the ˜8 minute film followed by an Artist Roundtable discussion with the collaborators about the project's evolution.

Sculptural garments and objects used in the film will be on view in the JAC gallery during the event.

Collaborators:

  • Taleen Batalian: Creative Director and Sculptural Garments

  • Antonio Forte: Original Score and Sound Design

  • Heidi Henderson: Dancer and Choreographer

  • Keri King: Scenic design and Project Consultant
