Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead): A Celebration of Life! Workshop

Sunday, October 22, 2023

1—3 pm
$25 per individual (includes one take home kit)
$55 per family (up to 4 people from same household, includes one take home kit)
$10 per additional household member available at the door.
Children 4 and under are free.

Gather at the JAC on October 22 for a Día de los Muertos Workshop with Jesús de la Torre. Día de Muertos is a beautiful party; the guests of honor just happen to be dead.

During this two (2) hour workshop you will learn how ancient Mesoamerican traditions became what we now call Day of the Dead with demonstrations by Jesús on creating an ofrenda, or offering table, and hands-on art making of traditional ofrenda items including: tissue paper flowers, paper masks, and banners.

After the workshop, you will take home your kit of items to continue creating your own ofrenda at home. Honor your loved ones and be ready to celebrate their lives on the traditional Día de los Muertos (November 2)!

No celebration would be complete without a little something to eat. We will have Mexican hot chocolate and the traditional sweet bread, Pan de Muerto, for you to snack on during the workshop.

Sign up today to ensure your spot at this family-friendly event!

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Additional kits will be available for purchase.

Scholarships available! Please contact melinda@jamestownartcenter.org for more information.
